A graduate of Albion College in Michigan and Capital University Law School, David E. Williams joined the firm in 1976. His practice focuses in business law, business formation, real estate law, real estate development, zoning, condominiums and commercial leasing.
Attorney Williams has served as a board member and president of the Kent Area Chamber of Commerce and as a board member and president of the Kevin Coleman Mental Health Center. He has also been a board member of the Portage County Homebuilders Association and served as a board member and president of Twin Lakes Country Club.

A graduate of Miami University and The Ohio State University College of Law, Howard T. Welser, Jr., joined the firm in 1969. His practice primarily involves estate planning, probate, wills and trusts, as well as real estate and business law. Attorney Welser is a lifetime member of the Kent Garden Club and serves on the board of trustees of Kent Social Services.
Peter C. Kratcoski obtained his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science from the Ohio State University in 1985 and his law degree from The Ohio State University College of Law in 1988. He was admitted to the Bar in 1988 and began his practice as an associate attorney with the firm the same year. He became a partner with the firm in 1993.
Attorney Kratcoski’s practice primarily focuses on several areas, including civil litigation in all courts, construction litigation and arbitration, commercial and residential landlord/tenant law, real estate law and domestic relations law (divorce, dissolution, custody). His practice in the area of domestic relations includes post-decree matters, such as modifications of child custody, child support and spousal support.
Attorney Kratcoski is an active member of the Kent State University community and has served in the role as an adjunct professor at Kent State University since 1989 at campuses in Portage, Stark, Trumbull and Tuscarawas Counties. In addition he has served as the legal advisor for the Kent State University Mock Court Team since 1998. Attorney Kratcoski is also an active member of St. Patrick’s parish and school, where he serves on the Finance Committee and the St. Patrick’s Booster Club.
Errol A. Can began his law career as an assistant county prosecutor in Portage County, focusing on the prosecution of felonies and misdemeanors. After leaving the Portage County Prosecutors office, he maintained a private practice concentrating on criminal defense, civil litigation and family law.
He joined the firm in 1998 and became a partner in 1999. He currently concentrates on criminal defense, including all felonies and misdemeanors in Portage County and other adjoining counties. His current family law practice includes divorce, dissolution, child custody and all post-decree matters.
Can is a graduate of Albion College majoring in Global Power Relations and the Thomas M. Cooley School of Law. He is a member of the Ohio Academy of Criminal Defense Lawyers Association and the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.
An alumnus of Ohio University, where he graduated summa cum laude, and the Ohio State University College of Law, James E. J. Ickes joined the firm in 2001. He became a partner in 2008. Attorney Ickes concentrates in the areas of commercial litigation, consumer rights, family law and personal injury.
He serves as Secretary/Treasurer of the Portage County Bar Association and also actively participates as a guardian ad litem in the Portage County Juvenile Court. Attorney Ickes is a member of the American Bar Association, Kent Rotary and the Hudson Chamber of Commerce
